Create 3.1.2- Fair Use and the TEACH Act
04/28/2014 21:08
By understanding how Fair Use affects my role as an online instructor, I know how to legally use resources in my online class. Knowledge of Fair Use helps teachers to understand what resources that they find on the Internet are permissible for instructional purposes.
How do Fair Use and the TEACH Act correlate to the delivery of reliable content? The TEACH Act is an expansion of the rights to display resources for online instruction. The TEACH Act allows many digital technologies in online learning. In conjunction with Fair Use, the TEACH Act is geared for educators in particular and as long as teachers adhere to certain guidelines, teachers are allowed exemption from certain copyright laws if the resources are being used for educational instructional purposes. It affords online instructors knowledge regarding resources that they can and cannot use.
Abiding by Fair Use and the TEACH Act will prevent teachers from violating copyright laws. When posting resources online, the online instructor should follow the guidelines and use the checklist that can be found here: https://www.copyright.com/Services/copyrightoncampus/basics/teach.html
